Concealed Door Closers

Concealed door closers

Concealed door closers are designed to be hidden from view when the door is closed, being installed inside the door frame or door leaf, unlike traditional surface-mounted door closers, which are visible on the surface of the door.

Concealed door closers are often used in applications where aesthetics are a priority, such as high-end residential or commercial buildings, where designers and architects want to maintain a clean and uncluttered appearance.

What are the concealed door closer types?

There are two main types of concealed door closers: in-frame and in-door. Both offer the same functionality, but are placed in different locations that mean it is important to select the right one for you.

Concealed door closer types: in-frame

In-frame concealed door closers are installed inside the door frame and are hidden from view when the door is closed. As these involve changes to the door frame there is a slightly higher level of craftsmanship required to fit them.

Concealed door closer types: in-door

In-door concealed door closers, on the other hand, are installed inside the door leaf itself and are concealed within the door panel. These typically require around the same level of skill to fit as installing a door catch, so may be more suitable for DIY if being fitted in your home.

Both types of concealed door closers typically use a hydraulic mechanism to control the speed and force of the door closing. They can be adjusted to suit the weight and size of the door, as well as the desired closing speed and latching force.

Concealed door closers are available in a range of styles and finishes to match the decor of the door and surrounding area. They can be used on a variety of door types, including timber, aluminium, and glass doors, and are suitable for both internal and external doors.

While concealed door closers provide a clean and unobtrusive appearance, it is important to ensure that they are installed correctly and in compliance with relevant safety and accessibility regulations to ensure the safety of occupants and property.
