The intumescent kit for 102mm square hinges, supplied as a pack of six, is made at 1mm thickness for 30 minute fire doors. Intumescent material expands when heated and seals the gaps around hardware let into the door, helping the door keep its fire performance. It is used by joiners and installers fitting ironmongery to fire doors.
The intumescent pieces line the recess cut for the hardware and are fitted before the hardware is fixed into the door. Jedo ball bearing hinges are listed as fire tested when fitted with intumescent pads. Always follow the fire certificate for the door and hardware being used.
