The intumescent kit for FB mortice deadlocks is made at 1mm thickness for 30 and 60 minute fire doors. Intumescent material expands when heated and seals the gaps around hardware let into the door, helping the door keep its fire performance. It is used by joiners and installers fitting ironmongery to fire doors.
The intumescent pieces line the recess cut for the hardware and are fitted before the hardware is fixed into the door. Check that the kit suits the lock case before cutting the recess. Always follow the fire certificate for the door and hardware being used.
